This is one of the most popular beaches in South Wales and some outstanding fish are caught here, including specimen smoothound, bass (the Welsh record was taken here 8) ),conger, ray, mullet and cod.
The "hot spots" lie next to the power station,in front of the offshore cooling tower, and between the warm water outfalls. The end of May sees the arrival of smoothound, with fish up to 10lb :D these will be followed by the bass.Double figure cod are taken in good numbers, and the best fish come from the shingle beaches.
Tackle/Bait....The ground is very rough :!: and a strong tide run means you`ll need good 6oz+ leads to hold bottom, and a rotten bottom is advisable  .Long casting can be a big bonus, but is not always necessary. The best time to fish is either side of low water on small to medium tides.
How To Get There....From Cardiff, follow the signs to Cardiff Wales Airport on the B4265.Turn left towardsWest Aberthaw and follow the lane to the beach car park 8)
