Merseyside----Seacombe To Vale Park (High water marks)

Post by Big Kev »

A very spacious railed prom extends from the landing stage at Seacombe, right up to Vale Park nr New Brighton. The fishing can be very good along the whole stretch, with autumn/winter seeing lots of whiting and codling, plus numerous dabs. The depth of water is not as great on this side of the river, and as such, catches will often be better after dark, though daylight still offers considerable sport in the right conditions.
Defence groynes situated from Vale Park to Egremont, mean you can fish most of the stretch on the biggest of tides. The exception being the Seacombe end, which has deeper water and is furthest from the groynes.Look to fish tides of 28ft+ from 3 hours before high water. As a general rule to aid comfort of fishing,Vale Park to the Egremont Pub (bottom of Tobin St) will be easier on the biggest tides.

Parking on the prom is a contentious issue,as sometimes the council/police will let you,but other times they`ll book you.I would advise erring on the safe side and get access to the prom by turning down one of the many side roads off the main A554.There is limited parking just before the prom starts at Seacombe.....at the bottom of Tobin St there is a car park opposite the pub, then you have the likes of Kingslake Rd,Maddocks Rd,and the main parking for Vale Park is at the bottom of Magazine Lane. You can park just off the prom in most cases, but be sure not to block/inconvenience the local residents.

A good channel only 40yds out holds the fish at Vale Park
