Eastam , Wirral?

Tonight I went to somewhere I had not been before and my mate said it must be good for fishing as the river seems so near and access to it looked fairly easy. I thought – I don’t think I have seen that on the forum before and yet – it’s a famous place* and so some people here must know about fishing spots around here and maybe even here!

My mate refered to this place as eastam on the wirral. Was he right?

* a pub famous for Bikers?

I’m not sure how far the River comes up to the bank. It looked like it came up against the bank. I know in the venues – there’s a Eastam path by the River and I presume its not far from where this place and pub was.

I had a Guiness EXTRA cold…it was lovely…

Theres been a few reports from there and a write up in the venues section on Eastham. (think it was plastic paddy)

Summer is eels and flatties, winter can see codling, and flatties. You often see locals fishing there so it can be that bad. (or it is and they console themselves in the pub )

Have a good look at low water though for where the chains and carp is though, or you'll lose loads of tackle !

If you fish off the path you'll need to be careful of shipping though, as they enter/come out of the manchester ship canal they are so close you could spit on them.

I'm surprised you've not tried townhall or vale park yet. Fishing off the prom at high tide you only need cast a few yards. When I took my toddler last winter it was using a very light rod, size 4's and 1/2oz pear weight.. cast about 15ft out and she got 7 small codling that day !

Perhaps that should be a goal for you this year, get your tramper up to the prom and meet up with a few of us. Theres a great little pub your wife can watch you from and it'll be safe fising for your son.

I think your right Simon, it would be great to meet up with a few of you at Prom, Vale park or Townhall. it was all going hunky dory and then this year has been a bit of a write off. I have got the Tramper out and on the road again in the last month, but I didnt get to use it until July - from last November. Builders and health issues... I'll have a scroll through the venues and see if I can find plastic paddies write up.

I thought it looked possible from where I was. The Pub - the Tap...thanks - nice cool guiness... LOL...
