multiplier positioning on beech caster

Looking at some tournament casters they have the reel position very low down the rod what is the general optimum position for most fishing situations?
Eg I would assume close to the butt end would give as much energy as the rod can deliver as the user should be able to use the full extent of the load the rod can apply.

currently I have mine more towards the top hand i notice on this photo its very low down gaining as much load as possible to rod

Low position can cast further if the rod suits a low reel position but in most cases the high position is the easier more comfortable option.

Its not about the added leverage, which really is about the same - upper hand is in the same fulcrum position after all.

It does slow the cast down a bit, well the feel of it encourages you to take a bit more time.

Reality for the fishing caster is that there is very little difference.

You can convert to casting reel down with a good 4 hours of practice, but dont expect it to magically add yards to your cast - it wont.

It is slightly more awkward retrieving, but you soon get used to it, also when fishing hardcore at the likes of Rock Channel your reel will be in the water

I do prefer reel down, partly because one of my reel seats has got stuck in that position so i'm now stuck with it!

95% of rods no are equipped with fuji reel seats. Try the low reel for casting, then slide the reel up for the retrieve. Do know what

never seen anybody do this

Not locally anyway.

Aye, all my rods have adjustable reel seats but just too much hassle. You do get used to the retrieve reel down very quickly - first of all you wonder 'wtf this is a right pain', but then it just feels as (almost) natural as reel up.

Funny what you get used to, went out last night with my waders and light bass rod - had to think for a few moments how I should be holding the rod.

on my lt 14s i use reel up,,but i have always got into the habit of using glue under the fuji fixed reel seat,,,problem i find is when i really bend it i can feel a slight crackling under the reel seat,,obviously the butt is flexing,,this would be the only reason i would use reel down,,,never had same problem on centurys,,
