Mullet in the Mersey

Mullet in the Mersey?

Does anyone know of any areas that have mullet lurking on the surface in the dock areas.
I am looking to target them with my fly rod but will do some Recon on of areas you can see them lurking on top.
eg a inner dock wall on low tyde for example
as the mersey is a sandy muddy estuary the main river hasn't give me any clues.

i know its not the docks but have seen lots of them in the gulley at moreton low water and bought a fly rod, had an old leeda rimfly and bought some bread flys (amongst others) to try at them but never got round to it but if ya going give us a shout as i'd love a bash at them

I saw them there in the summer too... are they still there now? I thought they were a summer species locally

I'd also be interested in tagging along if there's a session

This is my favoured spot on the Mersey for Mullet.

It's the Groyn at the Tower grounds at New Brighton. Fished from low up to mid tide (as the shoal disperses as the tide gets higher)

My method is 11' Carp rod. Fixes spool reel loaded with 6lb line.
Small clear bubble float. 8's hooks.

This is a medium one from there, I have seen them to well over 5lbs here.

Thanks for info cant ask for more than putting me on the money like that....do they still cruze the surface this time of year? or are they just summer sport........

I know some harbors in wales have a few viable on a low tide even at this time of year (port maddock) but it a bit of a trek.

spotting fish around the Mersey is difficult with water color....
I was watching some bait fish jump near meols last summer? might have been bass or macks chasing them.
