Mariners ray

Wonder if anyone can help me please. Been to Mariners a few times already but never manage a ray out of there, The q is: how far do you need to cast and what bait and rig do you need for them at this venue.

marriners ray seem to like either sqid or sandeel keep the baits small.

of the knuckle a cast of 70 yards puts you on the rays but further down behind the flats you will need a bigger cast..if you go down by the anchor its only a short cast that puts you out onto a nice sandy gully..if you go down there over low water on a big tide and just take some time having a look at the gullys along the stretch you will have a better idei of what your fishing over.

i've had 2 off the bullnose recently - 70yrd cast is about right and small baits seems to be correct aswell
I had a big ray on 1/2 a frozen lug on a scratching rig - and no drop net and a small one on sandeel last saturday , so they are there -but not in any great quantity ( both caught just on high water btw)
