New Akios reels.

Post by Big Pete »

Hi,i've had a look at one of these new reels(allbeit a 7000 size with level wind,as all the 6500cts had been sold).I actually thought they were the business, solid swedish engineering. However,as they say "the proof of the pudding is in the eating".....so has anyone on here managed to get their mitts on one?....And if so,what do you reckon?....My Penn mags are ancient now,and nearing the end,so i thought about these.

Don't make Chris angry, you wouldn't like him when he is angry.

Seeing as how I am 'reel' tackle tart as much as Bren is a rod tackle tart, I could be very interested in treating myself to one of these, I would prefer to give my money to my local tackle shop, so when you get some in, let me know, I could be very interested in just popping down the road to see you.

They are made in Taiwan by the firm that made some budget priced Abu stuff for a while so they will be a similar product to the older budget Abu range I am sure.

I'm actually quite sure that these reels are solely manufactured at the original ABU factory in Sweden, before ABU moved their operation to China, they certainly look bullet proof,so i think i'm gonna indulge, lol.

I would suggest that if they are only a pound or two cheaper than Abu's then I would buy Abu's.Better the devil you know IMHO.

as they are only £20.00 cheaper than the Abu what would you really choose

1. New Company with New Product ?
2. Company that has been around years and a product that is well and truly tested ?
