Match report: N.W.A.S.A.C. Personal Members Match, Sat 4.6.11, Alexandra Dock Wall, Bootle (13 rods).


After a slow start, fish came on the feed on the rising tide at this deep venue within the Liverpool dock estate. Most anglers targeted thornback rays but found that the larger baits and hooks did not deter the dabs and that the container ships entering and leaving the locks did nothing to put the fish off the feed.
Steve Crowder won the match with 13 fish but the talking point was the 7lb plus cod (see photo) landed by Ian Griffiths- very late for this species. This was not the longest fish, however as it was beaten by John Waugh’s ray of over 9lbs!

Flatfish: Derek Bibby (Crosby), flounder, 40 cms.
