SPRATS!!!
Called in sainsbury's last wek to buy a couple of mack for a sesh. I noticed on the counter fresh Sprats 11/2"-2" long. would they be any good as a dead bait. they were really shiny. Would they be alright as a static bait or on the retreive as a lure. would be interested in your thoughts? Cheers.

If you can get to a tackle shop you would be better buying frozen Ammo mackeral,which are blast frozen on the boat.The supermarket stuff is garbage.It can be weeks old and turns to mush as you try to use it.

Quite agree Steve, the mackie was carp, maybe try the sprats though, hook in the mouth and out through the head were it's hard. Going to Spike Island Sunday the 9th, they might be OK for the flatties, a guy on another forum recons they're good for dabs.

Hello mate are you using the whole prat or just a small cut?
The tides arnt that big at the weekend if your fishing spike island walk over the lock and to the back of the square pond and fish the cornor there 2 hours before and 1 hour after!
lug and a small thumb sized section of mackrel will do great!
That cornor to the side of the pond behind the trees is full of flounder it gets a little mad there

Hi mate
The advice I got for the sprats was, "sliced in half long ways for the dabs, only mentioned them hole on the beach, but I've made a wishbone rig to try at Spike so I'll put a half on one hook and a whole one onthe the other and see what happens!!!. Will also be using a three hook flapper on the 12' rod with mack, have some frozen black I can try, no lug untill I hit the beach in a couple of weeks, come to think of it I had some salted lug, if my mate didn't use it up the other week, will have to check the bait freezer. Hope you do OK at Connors. I sent you a pm regarding Spike if you havn't seen it.
