Defrosting Squid

Leave the block in cold water till you can pull them apart.Bag them up in 2's or 3's and refreeze.Won't do them any harm.

Hi All

I have a box of squid sat in the freezer with about 10 squid in it.

I only really use 2 or 3 per session. I took the frozen box but found it very difficult to seperate especially without wrecking them.

If i defrost the whole pack, will the others spoil if i refreeze them several times? or is there a method of seperating them whole without damaging them?

Also i'm not too fussy about squid - I refreeze it multiple times - I only ever use it though as a tough 'base' against which to cotton up softer baits, or for tipping ofcourse.

Funny though - most of my takeble cod this year have been from lug with big squid wraps where i've cottoned up all the squid roe that you often get (i used to just throw it away) ... probably coincidence!
