Preston Bullnose

Firstly thanks to all posters for some great info.

I have just returned to the forum after a two yr absence (working too hard)

I am told that there are flounder to be had at Preston Bullnose (near to where I live apparently)

Could someone please direct me?
What is best bait? I assume that rising and ebbing tides are best? Does the use of spoons improve matters

Hi mate the bullnose can be ok but it tends to get very crowded with some people attempting to fish 3 or more rods.. Trust me this is impossible. U can fish an hour up n 2 down normally. Anything bigger than 8m ride is impossible to fish because of the tide rushing in and out. You can actually see the tidal bore on the big tides . Avoid after heavy wind and rain because there is too much water and debris to hold bottom fish effectively.
You can fish standard beach gear 2 hook flappers and 5oz grippers. However braid offers much better presentation because you can hold bottom so much better.
Peeler crab, black lug, mackerel and cooked shell on prawns all have there day but at this moment in time peeler crab is the only bait to use due to other baits being stripped in minutes from crabs....
If your in the right place at the right time you can catch bass, whiting dabs and even chub have taken baits intended for other fish albeit a rareity. Flounders are your main target and you don't have to cast to the other side to catch fish. A short 30 yd lob will put you amongst the fish. Spoons are worth a try as they may bring u the extra bites. Use small fine wire hooks size 4s are the best for presentation and welfare of the fish.
The bullnose is easy enough to find if you have a sat nav enter PR2 2HT . Drive right to the end of maritime way and you can park at the end or fish from ur car.
If you don't have sat nav . If you come past morrisons with morrisons on your right, you come to a roundabout wit mcdonalds on your right . Take your first exit and continue following the road past the waterfront pub on your left. Follow this round and cross the swing bridge . Take your first right after the bridge and cross the train line. You are now on maritime way.
