Is there anywhere in the Liverpool area where it is possible to collect peeler?
Might sound a daft question but I've got a fold down crab pot....could I just bait it up and chuck it in the mersey or can you only get peelers on shore? Are they special crabs? What about West Kirby are they any good or a different breed of crab?
Completely clueless to this!

I fish because I love to.... not because I regard fishing as being so terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant and not nearly so much fun.

Hello mate . Peeler crab are just common shore crab , but , unfortunately, when they are going through the peeling process , they don't feed. They hide as they are quite vulnerable . Anywhere there is rock, weed and mud you will find them, twist off the last segment of the back leg . If there is another softly formed black coloured leg underneath , it's a peeler . Ifs it's an opaque sinew it's a hard back , put it back and find it when it's a peeler next time out. Hope this helps. Google for more info on the web.
