Swellies on a big tide?

Got a friend staying with me this weekend and tides look big. I was considering fishing the boathouse by the old bridge but last time I fished there it was a neap tide and it's a fairly big spring tide this Saturday. Is it completely unfishable due to the flow? Also...is it worth considering float fishing with a fast retrieve in the faster currents. Last time I just chucked a sliding ledger out and started retrieving the 6oz weight against the current and ended up with a 2lb Codling, not sure if that was a fluke or if trying something similar on a float would work in the faster currents?

Never fished it but i should think it would be very difficult on a big tide......

One of the guys on WSF has suggested The Gorad nearer Brittania bridge, might stick to lures and float and see what happens. I don't fancy Pensarn after last weeks suicide attempt and the subsequent bad puns on here....I'm looking at you Steve Duffy haha

We tried a couple of years back with float fished eel & sidewinders after a problem with the boat just for something to do forget it you'd just be flogging a dead horse it absolutely flys through

Was that by the Gorad? It's an 8.9 tide at Liverpool so its not massive but not sure at what point it's unfishable.

Any other decent marks in the area for a big low tide?
