Match Report: Sun 26.2.17- 1st Round of Personal Members Championship, Kinglake Promenade, Wallasey (27 rods).

The weather was kind for this curtain raiser for the series with a gap between storms Doris & Ewan giving a fairly calm Mersey Estuary with small codling, whiting and dabs on offer.
Gordon Thornes drew the next to end peg in the downriver Zone A and used fresh crab to good effect, recording nineteen small codling for a measure and release total of 259 points and an early lead in the championship. Meanwhile, England International, Heather Lindfield, scratched out nine of the same species to win Zone B for second place.
It was good to see both old and new faces as well as regulars at this first event of the championship. Well done to young Emily (5th!).
