Anglesey....Ty Croes

Post by Big Kev »

A popular area offering good sport for rock anglers...main targets are thornback rays, with the chance of a spotted, plus big huss and conger...also present are the usual dogs,whiting,dabs...you can get wrasse ,mack and pollack, but other marks are better for those species. Fish/squid/sandeel baits work very well for the big stuff,as does fresh whiting fillet...prob best on neap to mid range tides in calm conditions...any distinct swell can make the marks dangerous, and the fishing is also poor as a result.
Getting there...Come off A55 at Junction 5 and follow the signs for Aberffraw/Trac circuit...pass Rhosneigr and Cable Bay before turning right for the Trac Circuit...follow the lane, going over 3 speed bumps until you see the sign for the Fishermen`s Car Park, which is on your right...go up the concrete ramp and in to the field and park near the top left hand corner.
Once parked in the field go over the stile in the left hand top corner...Image
Follow the path alongside the fence...Image
Once at the end you have a large choice of marks....Image
All areas offer the chance of good fishing though the rays appear to be more prolific from marks to the right of the path past the old building, and towards Cable Bay...Image
The climb down is not too bad ,just take your time...Image
The lower rocks are not too slippy, but studded boots are always helpful...Image
