Formby 19/11/21

After my good fortune earlier in the week I thought a full session at Formby was in order.

I arrived an hour before low water armed with a box of Chung Wah’s finest squid, a wrap of blanched frozen black and my bait pump. I was glad to have taken other bait. I only managed about 20 blacks as casts were like hen’s teeth again.

I alternated whole squid on a pulley rig and fresh lug on loop and flapper rigs.



Hopes were high as conditions looked very good but all that showed were whiting.






6 fish in all.

I packed up dead on high water and headed home for a post session beer It was a shame no bass showed but it was good to be out on a mild night with a good sea and the chance of something decent turning up.

Simo we can only catch what's in the water where we are fishing be it fish or weed.

So long as you enjoyed yourself that' all that matters ?

PS that first picture of the sand and all them tube worms I normally get my white rag worm from such places ??? have you ever give it a go.

That’s a good tip Brian. I have read that white rag are often in among the tube worm but have only got as far as contemplating taking a fork. I tend to get bait on the session and try to minimise my baggage because of all the moving with the tide. Perhaps I’ll go on a separate baiting mission to give it a try. There is a load of tube worm at Formby so maybe it’s a good spot. Cheers
