Preview Round 3 Vale Park Nov` 20th

A competitive yet informal set of matches in and around the Mersey. With only 2 fish to count,it`s a good way to get in to match angling

Preview Round 3 Vale Park Nov` 20th

Post by Big Kev »

Sand under our feet again as we move round in to the river in search of anything that swims...in all probability you will once again be looking for a ray n dab combo to get in the mix..dogs will no doubt still be around and often come out early before thinning out,so i`d look to target them while you have the chance...codling feed in the first hour of getting out on the bank, but i don`t see any showing at this mark until December...whiting should oblige, leaving the often elusive flatfish to be found...dabs will be the mainstay, though there`s a chance of plaice and flounder...i`ll once again be alternating between worm n razor or bluey on loop rigs for a flat fish, and an up n over with fish n squid cocktails in search of dogs n rays.
The tidal pull can be pretty fierce at this venue, which is why i`ve picked a medium size tide to help to avoid too many crossed lines...we will have to play it by ear as regards to the start time,as the size of tide and wind direction/strength can make a difference as to how soon we can safely get everyone out on the bank..we will have to cross a gulley to get out to the bank (usually less than knee deep)so waders/chesties are a must.
As to where to fish i am not bothered as it seems to be pretty fair all along..the only thing to think about is the water takes longer to go out on the right end of the stretch.

Magazine Lane is just before or after(depending on which way you are coming from ) the line of shops, and you will see a finger post sign at the top of the lane https://goo.gl/maps/VRcSxJ75KFvwopvn6
Follow Magazine lane to the bottom and park near the shelter...https://goo.gl/maps/CcVLr11asfQaxCYx6
Please do not drive on the prom :naughty:

Be careful if you wade out to cast. There are some areas of very soft sand/mud that can trap you,as I found out one year.
