Round 5 Result Town Hall Steps 11th Dec`

Another good turn out of 19 hardy anglers,including a special guest appearance from Adam Roper, made their way out along the full length of the prom.The first decision was whether to stay around the town hall for numbers of fish or go further towards the ferry terminal where the better chance of a codling might be.Myself,Jimmy Red`,his brother Pete ,Phil Moscrop and Rob Turner went furthest and though it was a very quiet first couple of hours,apart from a dab for Pete,it was Rob who set the bar with a nice codling of 42cm. A few more whiting and dabs were coming from the town hall,then Maerig and Richie Fisher,who both had a flat n round combo,moved further past us in the hope of a codling to boost their scores. Rob decided his best chance of a dab was to go in the opposite direction,but he could`nt find one. Sod`s law myself,Jimmy and Pete who were fishing next to him all had dabs,though Jimmy and Pete could`nt find a round fish.As ever with this format it was wide open until the final cast,and as if by magic Richie managed to snare the last dogfish in the river,which along with his dab was good enough to take the match.Conditions were always gunna be against us for quality catches,but that`s match fishing.A break from the league until Jan 8th at Kingslake rd gives us a chance to hit some proper cod marks,weather permitting,so i`d like to wish everyone a very merry xmas and a fish filled new year.

Well done to all winners and well done to all that turned out. My return to match fishing after a year out was not what I was hoping for but at least the doglet had not chewed any of my Gibsons. Looking forward to the next match.

yeah well done to all you guys who got the required combo, including myself at last, after about three years I think

Gutted to witness Richie pull out that pesky doggie in the last minute but full marks for moving twice in the match to find something different
