Quick pike session 07.08.06

Post by kenny101265 »

Had a couple of hrs to spare so it was a quick dash to the drains with my lures and 4th cast caught this 4lb 8oz pike :D :D on a kuusamo spoon

the spoon was worked with the first 3ft of water over dense weed cover ;)

Anybody thinking of pike fishing at this time of year please remember the fish are as delicate as any other if not more so due to the fight they give, follow the folowing, go with a seasoned piker if possible, never over play the pike for the fun of it get them on the bank as soon as possible, once on the bank make sure every thing is to hand forceps, camara, unhooking mat, weigh sling and scales ( it's better to unhook in pairs if your new to it ) the pike at this time of year are very lively and will thrash about on the bank causing damage to themselves handle them with care and speed, the above pike was back in the water within 30 secs of capture none the worse for wear :D :D :D
