the local lake the over flow has it and a load of warning's regarding contact with the water the've put some hay/straw in to kill off the nitrites but why is the stuff so bad that they have put warnings up :? :?:

Certain types of blue/green algea are toxic to mammals like us if you swallow them but the worst case I have heard of was a dog vomiting after spending an hour or two swimming in the stuff.Councils tend to close waters as soon as they see any sign of the stuff because a risk assesment that says "Danger of death" tends to upset insurance companys a bit.
