Taskers teams of 6 (Leeds & Liverpool Canal) match 4

Fished the 4th match in the series as a stand in, (1st mistake).Got to the pub for the draw and a brew with our Billy, met jonty who was also called as a stand in, i was drawn on the 'drums' section by the bay (332) not bad i thought(2nd mistake).The wind was so bad that most of the lads wanted the match called off but the orginisers were having none of it, i heard of at least 4 poles being broken by the wind before we even started.Anyhow the 'all in' was called and i set myself up for some roach, fishing 7-8 mtrs (3rd mistake), after about 3hrs without a bite i decided to chop some worms and have a go for perch.Waited for an hour before my float dipped and hooked a perch of around 1 dram, but instead of bringing it in with the pole low i lifted it straight up (4th mistake) the wind caught it and blew the blinkin thing off my hook (gutted is putting it mildly) chopped more worm then went in again and my float went again but this time i put the pole under the water and landed my only fish of the day, a 4oz 8drm perch.I knew alot of people were struggling but i didn't realise how bad it was till my section was weighed in and i won the section with that one perch ( £20 sect win ).
A really bad days fishing but got the section and our team came second on the day, so not a total loss.I'll leave Billy and Jonty to tell thier account of thier day.
