Outside of the HHBW not bashing the doggies like some of the noddys on here. :roll:

I'm sure a granny knot in the same strength line would weaken it sufficiently so as to act as a rotton bottom however it would also be severely weakened during the cast and would be dangerous for anyone in the vicinity. With the Genie rotten bottom link you maintain the strength during the cast and have the weak link only when the lead enters the water.

Genies cost a fortune. You can get something called Rotters for a fraction of the price. :thumbsup:

There is no harm in casting with a granny knot in the snood but you could loose a good fish.

you dont need to fish there anyway (to the right)

Some times it very busy and the right side is the least popular
