Cheers fellas. Will give it a go next Sunday with some 6oz grips and 10lb mono. Didn't get out this weekend due to the debilitating man flu so I'm dying to wet a line.
I fish because I love to.... not because I regard fishing as being so terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant and not nearly so much fun.

10lb mono is too light in my opinion.....15lb is as low as i go in the Mersey 
winter fishing sucks
